Sexual harassment in Egypt

Although I have not been to Egypt (yet), I have many friends who have and they all tell me of frequent situations of sexual harassment by Egyptian men. I have read before that this moral degradation is a result of the economic stagnation and the craptastic Mubarak-government in power. Here is another article by the BBC on the situation Egypt's sexual harassment 'cancer'.

What strikes me as shocking are the opinions of actual Egyptian men.

This article reminds me of a recent incident during the last Eid Al-Fitr where women were publicly groped on the street, even the hijabis. This incident was blamed on Dina, the Egyptian belly dancer. Just another example of scapegoating...

The only possible way out of this is to legalize prostitution. It's ok to be a charmouta! but who knows.
